Here are some thoughts, cartoons and youtube video’s on the Ground Zero Mosque controversy:

Iraqi Columnist in Arab Liberal Online Daily Elaph: The Hostile and Provocative Name Chosen for the Planned Ground Zero Cordoba Mosque Symbolizes Dreams of Expansion and Invasion of the Territory of the Other

Iraqi-American columnist Khudhayr Taher published an article in the Arab online liberal daily Elaph.com on May 18, 2010 in which he warns against the desire to turn the U.S. into a Muslim country. Taher called upon the American administration to ban the building of mosques, and especially the Cordoba Mosque, planned for construction near Ground Zero in New York, because, he says, these mosques pose a danger to the security of the U.S. as they are centers for spreading extremist and terrorist ideas.

Following is a translation of excerpts from the article:

“In these days, the issue of the Muslim decision to build a mosque near the place where the crime of the cowardly September 11 terrorist attacks took place has come up. We must note that a hostile and provocative name [Cordoba] has been chosen for this mosque. It is well known that the first Cordoba Mosque was built by Muslims in a city in Spain, after they occupied this Christian country, killing its men and capturing its women to bring them to Arab countries as slaves and servants to serve their sexual pleasure. The Arabs and Muslims have never ceased to take pride and bask in the glory of this imperialist history, which they consider to be a symbol of their strength and power, and they are unashamed of the fact that the annals [of their history] are full of shameful crimes.”

“Today, it seems as though some Muslims in America are enamored of the dream of bringing back this ugly imperialist Muslim history, which is based on occupying peaceful peoples, on trying to force them to change their religious beliefs by the sword, on killing the men, and on abducting the women from their homes and bringing them to their own countries. Choosing the name ‘Cordoba House’ for the mosque to be constructed in New York was not coincidental or random and innocent. It bears within it significance and dreams of expansion and invasion [into the territory] of the other, [while] striving to change his religion and to subjugate him…”

“New York has many mosques, for Sunnis and for Shiites. Of course there is a significant infiltration of extremist terrorist ideology among some of the Sunnis, and likewise there is a significant infiltration of the Iranian intelligence [apparatus] among some of the Shi’ites. This infiltration, both among the Sunnis and among the Shi’ites, has spread across the U.S. New York State has many mosques, and doesn’t need any more of them – not to mention that for work reasons Muslims do not attend mosque every day, but only on Saturdays and Sundays. Therefore, the Muslims have no real need for the construction of this mosque, which constitutes a provocation against the sensibilities of the Americans and a reminder for them of the Muslim imperialism in Spain and of the acts it committed against the Christians – such as murder, pillage, taking captives, and aggression against women.”

“As a Muslim and as an American citizen, I hope that the U.S. government will issue a decision to confiscate the funds designated for the construction of this mosque, and to transfer them to a budget for rebuilding the towers of the World Trade Center in New York, [and also to] ban the building of [additional] mosques in the U.S., because there is no real need for them. Also, [we must] take into account the danger that they [i.e. the mosques] pose because they are hothouses for extremist terrorist ideology and for hatred of the other, and because they carry out open missionary activities considered a violation of the freedom and religion of others.”

Hamas Endorses Ground Zero Mosque

The terror group Hamas strongly endorsed the building of a mosque at Ground Zero.

“We have to build everywhere,” said Mahmoud al-Zahar, a co-founder of Hamas and the organization’s chief on the Gaza Strip, according to The New York Post. “In every area we have, [as] Muslim[s], we have to pray, and this mosque is the only site of prayer.”

Hamas, he added, “is representing the vast majority of the Arabic and Islamic world — especially the Islamic side.”

Abdul Rauf, the man orchestrating the building of the mosque at Ground Zero — a plan most Americans oppose — earlier this summer refused to describe Hamas as a terrorist organization.

A Mosque at Ground Zero

The proposed Imam of the Cordoba House is one Feisal Abdul Rauf, who is also the Imam of Masjid al-Farah, a New York City mosque. He is also the leader of the American Society for Muslim Advancement (ASMA), a New-York based nonprofit run by Rauf and his wife, Daisy Khan, since 2005. ASMA is the group behind the Cordaba House.

Rauf’s background is, as they say, of interest. He is not the moderate Muslim he pretends to be.

Rauf’s father, Dr. Muhammad Abdul Rauf was an Egyptian contemporary of Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna and a Muslim Brotherhood member who fled Egypt for Kuwait in 1948, where Feisal Abdul Rauf was born.

Upon coming to the US the late Dr. Rauf founded the Islamic Cultural Center (ICC) in New York, where his son, Feisal Abdul Rauf is a permanent trustee. The Center was built with $1.3 million in funding from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Libya.

The ICC has a history of employing radical clerics. One of them, Imam Sheik Muhammad Gemeaha had a long history of fiery Islamist preaching. After 9/11, Gameaha blamed the Jews, saying that “only the Jews” could have perpetrated the 9/11 attacks; that if Americans only knew the truth, “they would have done to Jews what Hitler did”; and that Jews “disseminate corruption in the land” and spread “heresy, homosexuality, alcoholism, and drugs.” Gemeaha’s successor at the ICC, Omar Saleem Abu-Namous, has said on many occasions that there is no “conclusive evidence” proving that Muslims were responsible for 9/11.

Rauf himself is an Islamist apologist who freely practices taquiya, dissembling to advance Islam, on gullible westerners. In a 60 Minutes interview that aired on September 30, 2001, He blamed th e9/11 attacks on the US saying 9/11 was caused by US policies, not Islamist terrorism. “I wouldn’t say that the United States deserved what happened, but United States policies were an accessory to the crime that happened… in fact, in the most direct sense, Osama bin Laden is made in the USA.”

In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Rauf expanded on this theme, saying it was Christians who started mass attacks on civilians.

“The Islamic method of waging war is not to kill innocent civilians. But it was Christians in World War II who bombed civilians in Dresden and Hiroshima, neither of which were military targets.”

I’m sure the millions who died during the Islamic conquests of India, Southern Europe, Spain, Asia and the Middle East would disagree with Rauf. After all, Mohammed’s first act of brigandage as recounted in the hadiths was to massacre and enslave the Jews of Medina who had taken him in as a refugee after he fled Mecca…simply because he was angry that they refused to follow him and he wanted their wealth.

Rauf has other questionable beliefs as well. He has endorsed Britain’s setting up of mandatory sharia courts. In March 2009, Rauf said that “Islamic law and American democratic principles have many things in common.” Anyone familiar with both our Constitution and the dictates of the Qu’ran and sharia law understands easily that the differences are so profound as to make them incompatible.

One of Rauf’s calling cards as a ‘moderate Muslim’in the US has been his book, published in the West as What’s Right with Islam. Overseas, as the National Review’s Andrew C. McCarthy found out, the book’s original non-English version was published with a very different text under the title A Call to Prayer from the World Trade Center Rubble: Islamic Dawa in the Heart of America Post-9/11.

Dawa, of course, is Islamic proselytizing and indoctrination. Both the overseas edition and the subsequent American What’s Right with Islam were funded and produced by the Islamic Society Of North America ( ISNA) and the International Institute of Islamic Thought(IIIT), names that should be familiar to my readers. Both of those organizations are Saudi-funded fronts of the Ikhwan, the Muslim Brotherhood. ISNA was identified as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism case, and the IIIT’s name should ring a few bells to people familiar with Islamist terrorism here in America. The IIIT also has an important connection to President Obama’s new Brotherhood friendly ambassador to the anti-Semitic and Islamist Organization of Islamic Conference(OIC), and the co-founder and president of the International Institute of Islamic Thought, Shaykh Taha Jabir al-Awani, was an unindicted co-conspirator in the Sami al-Arian terrorism case.

Nazis to Open Museum of Tolerance at Auschwitz

Yes, my headline is designed to attract your attention, and to make a point.

The Ground Zero Mosque is designed as a monument to the supremacy of Islam.

It is designed as a sign to Muslims everywhere that Islam will triumph over the Judeo-Christian West.

Islam is and has always been an imperialistic doctrine. Wherever it takes root, mosques are built higher than Synagogues and Churches. In fact, one of the most vile practices of Islam is to take sacred Jewish or Christian ground and colonize it for Islam.

The Temple Mount in Jerusalem is a perfect example.

Tolerance of the intolerant is not a virtue.

Islam is not just a religion.

It is a social, political ideology whose stated purpose is to impose Sharia on all of humanity.

Islam means submission.

And the Islamists intend to make us all submit to their barbarism.

In short, Islam is engaged in an endless war with non-Muslims.

Seraphicpress.com

Imam Rauf Praises the Islamic Republic of Iran that tortures, rapes, and murders its own people, yet State Dept spokesman P.J. Crowley calls Rauf a distinguished Muslim cleric who “brings a moderate perspective to foreign audiences on what it’s like to be a practicing Muslim in the United States”

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg says it is wrong to ask where Imam Feisal Rauf is raising money for his project, which suggests that the city’s chief executive has forgotten that in his town last year federal prosecutors seized four mosques and a skyscraper controlled by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Alavi Foundation…What we want to know is what foreign interests are to be served with the money that Rauf is raising to build his Islamic center.

Evidence is his advice to President Obama in the wake of the protests after last June’s Iranian presidential elections. Obama, Rauf wrote on his website, should say that, “his administration respects many of the guiding principles of the 1979 revolution—to establish a government that expresses the will of the people; a just government, based on the idea of Vilayet-i-faqih, that establishes the rule of law.” Leaving aside the apologetics on behalf of a terror-sponsoring regime that tortures, rapes, and murders its own people, this is a curious statement coming from a Sunni like Rauf. Even among Shia religious scholars the concept of vilayet-i-faqih, or guardianship of the jurist, is not widely accepted; in praising the Islamic Republic of Iran, Rauf has taken a position that is problematic, to say the least, for the Sunni faithful.

Top Muslims Condemn Ground Zero Mosque as a ‘Zionist Conspiracy’ (Blame it on the Jews)

A number of Al Azhar ulema expressed their opposition to building a mosque near [where] the events of September 11 [occurred], convinced that it is “a conspiracy to confirm a clear connection between the strikes of September [11] and Islam.” Dr. ‘Abd al-Mu’ti Bayumi, a member of the Islamic Research Academy [of Al Azhar] told Al Masry Al Youm that he rejects the building of any mosque in this area [Ground Zero], because the “devious mentality” desires to connect these events [of 9/11] with Islam, though he maintains that Islam is innocent of this accusation. Instead, it is a “Zionist conspiracy,” which many are making use of to harm the religion.

Al Masry Al Youm, Aug 05, 2010.

Westernized Muslims…have learned that they can get away with almost anything — so long as they slap the words “tolerance,” “pluralism,” “dialogue,” or “bridge-building” to their endeavors, as the 9/11 mosque supporters do regularly. In short, a correlation exists between how well or how little a Muslim knows the West, and how aggressive or passive their Islamism becomes.

Moreover, religious buildings are seen as symbols of supremacy by many Muslims; hence the reason mosques are ubiquitous to the Muslim world whereas churches are all but — and in some Muslim nations totally — banned. It is precisely because of this ingrained view regarding the significance of religious buildings that Al Azhar is convinced that no sane Muslim would adamantly pursue the construction of a 9/11 mosque, which must instead be “a new conspiracy against Islam and Muslims.”
