International Conference On Palestine: No Option But Resistance
The Second International Conference on Palestine, “The Outlook of Palestine and Zionist Regime’s Developments, Opportunities and Challenges” hosted by Tehran, was inaugurated on Saturday with the participation of Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani. The Palestinian Ambassador to Tehran, Salah Zawawi and the Secretary-General of the ‘Support for the Palestinian Intifada’ Committee Hossein Sheikholeslam also attended the opening meeting of the International Forum on Palestine.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said during his speech on Saturday there is no option for Palestinians but ‘resistance.’ [i.e. ‘terrorism’][1]
“There is no way but resistance and nobody will offer Palestinians’ rights. The issue of Palestine is painful for our history and the people of Palestine are under severe pressure,” Larijani said on Saturday.
The Zionist regime [Israel] began to decline after its ignominious defeat during the 33-day war against Lebanon in 2006, according to Larijani. He also turned to destruction of mosques by Zionist regime [Israel] and giving time for talks.
“The issue shows that the regime is not in a stable condition and suffers internal political pressure and that it is declining strategically,” he said.
He stated that
“Muslim nations must be aware that resistance against the Zionist regime is a ‘struggle of destiny.’ The increasing awareness of Muslims in the region and their resistance against the Zionist regime are priceless assets for the Middle East region.”
Larijani said also that the main intention of the U.S. initiated recent peace talks was to “create a chance for the Zionist regime” and to “humiliate the Palestinians”.
The Iranian parliament speaker called elsewhere in his remarks, on international organizations, including UNESCO, the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), to take effective and urgent measures to make the Zionist regime [Israel] halt its [so-called] oppression.
U.S. President Barack Obama made remarks in support of the Palestinians when he was elected in 2008, but he has not yet taken any measures to help the Palestinians, Larijani said in his statement.
“We have not seen anything except disrespect toward (the religious sanctities of) the Al-Aqsa Mosque, mass immigration, the imprisonment of Palestinians, and the transfer of arms from the United States to Israel, we found that despite a change in the US presidents, the mechanism of the country remains unchanged,” Larijani said and “The change in the tune of the US seeks creating a chance for Zionist regime.”
Larijani also visited the exhibition on the sidelines of the Second International ‘Forum on Palestine’ in Tehran.
Note:
[1] ‘Resistance’ is the popular word used by Palestinians and Arabs/Muslims (e.g. Hamas and other Arab/Palestinian jihad movements) when referring to the (armed) struggle against the ‘zionist enemy’, while Israel considers it ‘terrorism’ against its civilians and right to exist. The word ‘resistance’ is used in an attempt to give legitimacy to acts of terrorism against civilians (jews) and the State of Israel.
