Turkish PM Erdogan: Those Who Follow Islam Cannot Kill People
When Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was touring parts of flooded areas in Pakistan last week, he used his visit to Pakistan to attack Israel and to polish his image as a champion of Muslim solidarity.
His demagogic remarks are still quite astonishing if one has an eye for reality in this region.
“Islam is committed to peace, and we are believers of Islam. Those who follow the faith of Islam cannot kill people,” Erdogan said. And about Israel and the raid on the Gaza Flotilla (31 may), he said that “Israel must apologize to Turkey and pay compensation. If it does not, it will be doomed to remain isolated in the Middle East.”
Mr. Erdogan, what about all the killings in the name of Allah among muslims in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Gaza, Yemen, Iraq and… euh… Turkey?
What about all the suicide bombers and terrorism in the name of Allah? What about all the hatred and incitement against Israel and the West in the name of Allah?
Erdogan once said, “It’s not possible for a Muslim to commit genocide.” [CrethiPlethi, nov, 2009]. Now we know he meant it.
